Design Process

01–MEETING & BRIEFING

Our design approach holds collaboration at its heart, and always begins with a conversation about your hopes and ideas for the project as well as more practical considerations such as budget and time frames. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask lots of questions and for us to get to know each other a little to establish whether we will work well together. The best things you can bring to these early conversations are an open mind and a willingness to discuss your likes and dislikes, your home and your lifestyle. Following this meeting, we will send you a comprehensive written evaluation of your project together with a fee proposal.

02–CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

Once the parameters of the project – the brief, scope of works and budget – have been established and signed off, and a start date for the design work has been agreed, we will meet with you again so that photographs and accurate measurements of your space can be noted down. At this point, we also like to do a mini workshop with new clients, during which we look at images, fabrics and other materials so we can help you to articulate your design and material preferences. This enables us to develop a creative brief that will form the basis of the project concept – and this is what will guide us as we move into the design stages.

03–DESIGN DEVELOPMENT & PROPOSALS

In addition to scaled floor plans and elevations showing the suggested arrangement of furniture and fittings for your space, you will receive visuals of furniture, lighting and accessories; specifications for joinery, window treatments, upholstery and soft furnishings; and a samples box containing all the suggested solutions for paint colours, fabrics, flooring and other finishes. Together, all these elements will enable you to visualise the proposed scheme and identify any areas that you would like to revisit; it’s important that you take the time to consider how the design proposals make you feel as well as how they look. Two rounds of revisions are included in the design fee, ensuring that you always know where you are in the process, and that you get design solutions for spaces that you will love for years to come.

04–PROCUREMENT & IMPLEMENTATION

When it comes to implementing the design schemes, we strive to make our clients’ lives as easy as possible. Once the final design schemes have been approved, we manage all the various elements so that each room comes together in an organised and timely way. Procurement and implementation usually takes 12-16 weeks depending on the complexity of the project, and includes the co-ordination of tradespeople (whether yours or ours), together with the ordering, delivery and installation of every detail.

05–ACCOUNTS & BUDGETS

In addition to helping you to maintain the focus and momentum of your project, the procurement and implementation stage is your golden opportunity to benefit from our trade accounts to order the items we have chosen together, whether that’s paint, furniture, fabrics or accessories. Working this way saves you time and hassle, and makes the best use of your budget as our trade discounts invariably cover the cost of us managing this part of the process on your behalf – feel free to ask us for more information on how this works!
